A 2024 survey by Naluri found that 66% of Gen Z individuals those born between 1997 and 2012 fall into the high-risk category. This represents a 10% increase compared to the previous year, raising alarm among policymakers, educators, and healthcare providers. The findings underline a growing crisis in a generation already grappling with economic pressures, rapid technological change, and social uncertainty.

The Philippines still reports the highest overall risk in Asia-Pacific, although the figure has dropped by 14% since 2022. In Singapore, 59% of Gen Z remain vulnerable, despite a modest 4% improvement. Meanwhile, Thailand has the lowest prevalence at 38%, a figure that contrasts sharply with neighboring countries. Other nations, such as Malaysia (51%), Vietnam (57%), and Hong Kong (59%), continue to report worrying trends, showing that mental health challenges are widespread across diverse cultural and economic contexts.

The Urgent Need for Action and Awareness

Experts emphasize that the survey should serve as a wake-up call. Gen Z Faces Rising risks not only threaten individual well-being but could also have long-term consequences for workforce productivity and social stability. Mental health programs, digital campaigns, and early interventions in schools are seen as critical steps to address the growing crisis.
