Resilienceapac – Humboldt Cable is set to redefine global connectivity. In a landmark collaboration, Google and the Chilean government are building a 14,800-kilometer undersea fiber-optic cable that will link Chile with French Polynesia and Sydney, Australia. Named after the famous explorer Alexander von Humboldt, the Humboldt Cable is projected to be completed by 2027, with a total investment estimated between US$300–550 million. Chile has committed at least US$25 million to the project, underlining its strategic role in transforming South America’s digital infrastructure.
This massive initiative aims to enhance data transmission across the Pacific, offering an alternative to existing routes that heavily rely on North American or transatlantic systems. The Humboldt Cable will significantly reduce latency, improve bandwidth, and boost international data exchange across the Asia–Pacific and South American regions.
The Humboldt Cable is more than just a technical project it’s a regional game changer. It will strengthen digital ties between South America and Asia–Pacific, opening up faster. More reliable cloud access and internet services for governments, businesses, and consumers.

In Chile, the cable will drive growth in several key sectors, including technology, mining, finance, and telecommunications. With the rise of data-driven industries and AI-powered applications, better connectivity is becoming essential. The Humboldt Cable positions Chile to become a future hub for data centers and digital innovation. Encouraging foreign investment and job creation.
As cloud computing, AI, and big data continue to shape the global economy. The need for secure, high-capacity digital infrastructure is growing. The Humboldt Cable answers that need, creating a direct route between continents and reducing reliance on traditional, congested pathways.
This project also holds broader geopolitical importance by diversifying international data routes. For both Google and Chile. The Humboldt Cable symbolizes a forward-looking vision: a faster, safer, and more connected digital world that spans the Pacific.
