Resilienceapac – Empowering Economies is at the heart of the World Bank’s latest regional initiative targeting Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Designed to address economic disparity and social transformation, this strategic partnership aims to promote inclusive growth by empowering women and creating new employment opportunities. The program focuses on long-term development through skills training, access to financing, and strong support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Empowering Economies begins by placing women at the center of progress. In many Southeast Asian communities, women face limited access to education, employment, and economic independence. To counter this, the initiative introduces skill-building programs that provide practical training, leadership development, and entrepreneurial support tailored specifically for women.
By equipping women with the tools to thrive economically, the initiative not only improves individual livelihoods but also fosters stronger, more resilient communities. Empowering women has a proven ripple effect improving health, education, and overall well-being for families and neighborhoods.

Another critical component of Empowering Economies is job creation and the support of local businesses. The program offers financial assistance, mentoring, and market access to entrepreneurs and SME owners across the region. These businesses form the backbone of local economies and have the potential to generate sustainable employment.
In Vietnam and Cambodia, youth are also being trained in modern skills. Including digital literacy and technical trades, preparing them for the future workforce. Meanwhile, small business owners in rural Laos are reporting increased income and operational growth. Thanks to easier access to microfinance and advisory services.
Empowering Economies is more than a development program it’s a comprehensive approach to building inclusive and sustainable economic systems. By collaborating with governments, private institutions, and civil society, the World Bank ensures the initiative’s impact is broad and lasting.
Through this partnership, Empowering Economies is shaping a future where communities are equipped to prosper. By focusing on women, youth, and local enterprises. The program reflects a commitment to shared growth and long-term progress across Southeast Asia.
